Education today is completely different from what it was when I attended school a decade ago. With rising incomes and affluent parents with white collared corporate jobs flocking to Gurgaon, their demand from their child’s schooling, too, are increasing. They don’t want to settle for schools with classrooms barely aired with celling fans, canteens serving greasy samosas as lunch meals and monologue based teaching method – they want more – they want the world, quite literally! The parents of school going children in Gurgaon are showing interest in International schools more than ever. But do all parents recognise best International schools in Gurgaon the same way and if they do, do they know the ones that exist in Gurgaon? If you are one of these parents looking for an International School in Gurgaon, my three simple lists below should be a sigh of relief for you.
An International curriculum governs the teaching methodology, course content and system of examination by a board or governing body outside India.
The two main international curriculums on offer at Gurgaon are:
1. IGCSE & A Level
2. International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP & DP)
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) of The Cambridge University in the UK and the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization in Geneva Switzerland are the governing bodies for the above two International curriculums. The International Baccalaureate or IB has three primary programmes – Primary Years Program (IB PYP) for students aged 3 to 12 years, Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) for ages 11 to 16 years and Diploma Programme (IB DP) for 16 to 19 year olds. The Schools offering the International curriculum need an approval from the organization for offering the program in the school. For example a school offering the primary IB program remains a candidate school for the same until and unless approved by IB.
